Technology Commercialization

What

Mount Sinai Innovation Partners (MSIP) is your resource in technology commercialization, translating research into products or services to help the patient population.

MSIP offers one-on-one support through each step of the commercialization process including research support, negotiations, licensing agreements, and legal protections to advance technologies. MSIP also offers:

  • Access to funding resources
  • Connections to business partners and investment opportunities
  • Tailored business plans for optimal market value
  • Educational opportunities in technology commercialization, research innovation, and entrepreneurship

How

Inventors can start the conversation with MSIP by submitting a technology disclosure form, one of the first stages in the cycle of commercialization. MSIP will review the form and, if the technology meets the necessary criteria, engage the remaining stages to advance the technology.

Learn more about the cycle of commercialization, and each step of innovation, in the Innovation Guide.

Why

Many Mount Sinai innovators have transformed ideas into products that can help patients on a global scale – in 2020, MSIP received 152 technology disclosures, and filed 378 patents.

Innovation Ground Rounds
MSIP is planning Innovation Grand Rounds (IGR) for various groups across Mount Sinai –  IGR is a virtual series that sparks discussion on how to inspire, nurture and harvest discoveries that have the potential to become products and services that positively impact patient lives. The series is tailored to the needs of each group, providing an overview of the commercialization process, discussing how MSIP team members can help innovators and entrepreneurs across Mount Sinai, and sharing successful case studies as well as resources and tools to get started with commercialization.
