Training

Investigators at ISMMS along with members of the research team who are involved in the conduct of human subject, clinical, translational or basic research are required to complete training specific to the nature of their research.

Approvals Needed for Research

All research requires GCO and FCOIRC approval. Human Subject, Traslational and Basic Science approval requirements depend on the nature of your research.

Am I Eligible to be a PI?

Sponsored Projects – All full-time, part-time, emeritus, and voluntary faculty of Icahn School of Medicine and its affiliates are eligible to serve as principal investigators/project directors.

Human Research Studies – Any faculty member can serve as a PI. Medical School students and employees may also function as PIs as long as a faculty member joins the project as a mentor or co-investigator.

Animal Research Studies – The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and IACUC require a PI to be a faculty member.
