Dr. Kimberly Souffront, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, FAAN, is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Health Equity Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Associate Director of the Center for Nursing Research and Innovation at the Mount Sinai Health System. As a clinically based nurse scientist with more than 25 years of nursing experience, her career spans both academic and clinical realms, bridging innovative research and its application in emergency care.
Dr. Souffront’s proposal will examine how clinician-scientists are integrated across research, implementation, informatics, quality improvement, and healthcare delivery within a large academic health system. Her proposal aims to:
- Characterize how clinician-scientists (Physician Scientists and Nurse Scientists) are operationalized across healthcare delivery environments.
- Characterize how clinician-scientists are positioned, supported, and engaged within healthcare delivery environments.
- Refine and administer an exploratory executive survey to assess perceptions of clinician-scientist integration and value within healthcare delivery systems.
